Was changing the Final Drive Pivot Bearings on my 1150 and decided to change the input shaft oil seal at the same time cos I am 99% sure that that is where my oil leak was coming from ..... After reading Steppers thread on how to do it and getting some advice after ringing his counselling service I realized a tool had to be made .... the mechanics at pidcocks BMW were keeping an eye on me so pinching theirs was going to be tricky .... This is the one they use.....

This is mine ..... Not pretty but if you do the job yourself some time you will realise that the Nut and oil seal ring are on as tight as feck and you will need a very strong impact gun to undo them. I welded a half inch socket in the top to take the impact wrench and Torque wrench......

The business end was made by welding in some pieces of Key steel (Hard) then machining the welds down ..... the better the fit between the ring and tool the better, again because the bustard is on so tight .....

The reason for my post is this ....... If any body is considering doing this job and wants to borrow this tool you can. Just get in touch and you can borrow it for free, just leave a kidney or something as a deposit and off you go...:thumb

Edit: Usual disclaimers apply. If you end up spinning round on the end of the impact gun instead of the ring coming undone thats your bad luck! If you feck yourself or the bike up again no comeback on me.

If a mod could copy this over into the Midland section for me that would be good as well. Thanks ............. BB
