Does anyone have any pictures or details about the off road track to St Mary's Loch? I'm sure I've seen something on here before but I can't find it on the search.

I drive and ride past the end of it every time I go to Langholm but I've never been along it.

I`ll take a run across tomorrow and see what state the track is in and give you a heads up on it :thumb2

Took a run up today to see what the track was like, and there has been a change the old sign saying right of way for vehicles has been replaced with this one
P4030025 (320 x 240).jpg
which say ok for walkers cyclists and horse riders and motor vehicles of any type are strictly prohibited and unauthorised users will be prosecuted

WTF:eek:

That cah be right?

Thats been a road as long as a can remember, ower 50 years.

Cannie jist come along and say yer no allowed now??????????

Whae's FOUNTAINS ???????

The jobs F****D

Might be worth contacting Borders council and find out its status. It was always an unadopted road hence the allowable vehicular access. I noticed fountains did a lot of work on the track a couple of years ago but I didn't know they had put that sign up. It may be that the council have removed it from there list of streets but I would have thought it would have achieved ROW status as I bet its been in continuous use by vehicles for more than 20 years. ROW's aren't affected by land reform other than to remove pedestrian only ROW's and making them usable by all non motorised users.

I bet that fountains just put up the sign without its status being changed.

Be interested to find out how you get on with this.
Similar signs been popping up around here over the last 3 years or so.

Not that I pay a lot of heid to them! :D
