St Nazaire this time last year ish

Last year went to St Nazaire U boat pens on the Panzer tank... it was an eye opener - 30 metres of concrete in depth - did the bombs get through - I don't know? Anyhow I can post the pix now as I couldn't before

Great pics! Did you get to explore the gun placements running along the estuary into the port? They're largely intact still but sadly covered in graffiti. If you're not already familiar with it have a look at 'operation chariot' the greatest commando raid ever :cool:

I read the book, and then decided to go to St Nazaire to see the dry dock. Its a very impressive place to visit, especially if you've done your research. I then set off to the other side of town to see the building that served as a hospital for the injured marines that were captured.
 
We called in there this time last year, but didn't really do it justice, next time we will spend longer and learn more.
