Stahlbus oil change valve

How do you burn your fingers and get oil everywhere ? Do you hold them under the hot oil pouring out ?

Because invariably I don't leave it long enough to cool down, and then, as I quickly pull the drain plug out to the side I get a lovely spray pattern as the hot oil bounces off the plug in the split second between me pulling it away and the oil exiting the sump :blast

I had something similar on my land rover. It worked fine but wasnt really any less hassle than undoing the plug. Slick solution to a problem that doesnt really exist IMO. You can buy an awful lot of crush washers for £30 ;)

Had a similar setup on my old Discovery 300TDi.
Saved oil hitting the steering parts and travelling across the car dripping everywhere but really cant see a need for it on a 1150.

Isn't there a oil cooler thermostat on these bikes? You want to be draining while hot to get all the old oil out. I just use latex gloves as there's invariably a spill of oil when the filters removed as well.
