Stainless Brake hoses

I'm looking at getting some Goodridge stainless brake hoses as i've heard a lot of good things about braided hoses. My question is quite a simple one there are two options for my bike (1999 1150gs non ABS) one normal one and one with a retaining hardline, I'm just wondering what this retaining hardline is?
Also are they genuinely worth the money?

Keep the hard line. Not only is it a tidier option you're best keeping as few flexible lines as possible, even on a bike.

But to clarify, hard line is referring to the metal pipe that runs across the top of the lower fork yoke (the one with the ball joint fixed to it). 'Keeping' the hard line assumed you already have one. The kit with the option of not retaining the hard line will have a flexible line included to replace that pipe.

One of my bikes I replaced the whole front brake line (mixture of steel and rubber flex) with a pair of top to bottom braided hoses and double length banjo bolt on master cylinder.
The new system was 100% better with a good solid lever feel. I could have fitted three shorter braided hoses and had a similar effect but the three connection points would have become 6.

Instead of three connections. I felt the simplicity of two hoses was neater and probably more reliable.

Just done mine, picked them up from Moto Bins. Their website doesn't say but they are Venhills, fitted perfectly they are the the new type where the line screws onto the banjo, makes fitting easier taking twists out,
