Hi,

I have a 2016 GS LC with OEM engine bars.
I have acquired a pair of these stainless steel reinforcing struts (or 'brace' as I prefer to call them) - https://www.touratech-uk.co.uk/stai...2013-2016-r1200gs-lc-adventure-2014-2016.html

Problem is, when I offer the support strut to the engine bars, there is a rubber protector fixed to the inside of the engine bar that prevents the mounting of the brace. I think the rubber is there to help prevent the enging bar destroying the rocker cover in the event of a fall.

Any how, is it possible to fit the brace bars without removing the engine bars and drilling the rivets out of the rubber protectors??

Image attached shows what I am trying to explain - its the bit I have marked that is the issue.

TIA

Whilst I can't comment on your particular bars for your GS - I fitted the similar Touratech strut to the OEM bars for my 2019 R1250GS and had similar issues to what you describe. Initially I thought I might have to do similar to what you suggest, however, in the end when I fitted them the struts all together loosely on each side and "played" with the angle etc and how they bolted up when mounted, I managed to get them to fit right at the end of the rubber strip. But it was a bit of a fiddle, and whilst I'm happy with them on there now, they most certainly were not the easiest things to get to fit right at all.

The bottom picture looks like 1250 bars, the 1200 bars were different, they had a shorter rubber block or no block at all on earlier ones I believe

Look at the photo on the TT page in your link

Oh, why does life always through me these curve-balls??

Attached is am image of my bars and they were (according to the build spec) supplied when new.

I suppose I could remove them, but I kinda like them ...... dilemma!!!
