A question on behalf of my son. The stand on his 2008 F800 broke. It is the upside down U type. Will the later H type stand from more modern F800's fit without modification? Please & thanks in anticipation of a helpful answer.

I have an 09 800gs with a 2013 "H" type stand. Used fitting hardware from original "U" stand & all fitted perfectly.
Thanks Wayne for that seriously useful nugget of information - he had sourced a 2nd hand H stand but was relying on me to find out if it would fit. I in turn relied on your good self.

Yes it might be ugly, but it can be used on soft ground on campsites with fully loaded panniers and topbox and not submerge itself.
