Hi all
I have short legs and find it hard sometimes to lift my 1300GSA off the side stand so I’m going to try a side stand extender. There’s loads out there from alixpress to high end, so what’s the best to order and from where?

Thanks

Some might think, therein lies your problem.

As a side stand extender is nothing but a simple piece of metal, anything cheap’ish will probably do the job. Do though be sure you can get onto the bike when it’s closer to vertical.

Not least, remember that when you stop, you’ve still got to get one foot onto the ground, before you can flick the extended side stand out fully.
Assuming it’s the ‘puck’ sort, the depth of the puck requires the bike to be more vertical, when swinging the side stand through its final arc of travel. Otherwise it can catch on the ground.

Also make sure the puck doesn’t foul anything when the side stand is retracted.

Turning the handlebars to the Right full lock will make it easier to move bike over to your right hand side, lifting the side stand up as it goes in that direction. Then straighten the handlebars again.

On my last bike, which was a bit high for my wee legs, I attached a Ram Mount handlebar bracket with a 2" extension half way up the side stand pipe which made it easier to flick the side stand up and down.

It worked OK for the 10 years I had the bike (y)

Have a look in the 1300 section. There was a guy from Portugal selling these. Miguel Paixo or something like that was his name. I bought one and problem solved.

Side stand enlargers don’t lift the bike much at all, but they are great for parking on soft soil etc.

To make the bike more upright, get yourself a puck. Very easy to do.

I have a thread where I tried various things but settled for a puck - Look here..
