Reliving bike trips whilst sat at my desk....
Would I miss it if I took it off?

Did a search and found a bit of info, but not knowing what to call it, no doubt I missed other threads.

Thinking of removing it as it looks pants, but it seems that BMW put bits on for a reason and those I have removed I have sometimes found myself putting back again. Is this one of those? Willmy top box and pillion's helmet be coated in crap? Or will it make no difference at all?

If it's as effective on the 1150 as it is on the 1200, then removing it will make a difference. The back of your left leg, from hip to heel, will be cleaner and drier than it ever was with the coal scuttle fitted on the rear. I believe it's actually called a "herschl".

Bin it..... :thumb

Made bugger all difference to my 1150, in fact I took it off cos it was flapping around and rubbing on the knobbly missus :nenau

i've just took it off, haven't ridden it yet, but you can get a cover plate from BM, with all the bolts and pins for £6.

Removing the Herschl will make more of a difference to those following you...which is why the Germans insist on fitting it in the first place.....

.....bin it & save yourself nearly 3kg.....(sad that I've actually weighed it, I know........ )

Cheers
