Standing up v Sitting down on dirt.

I stand up on my gs on road but only to relieve pain in hips and knees on long m way slogs.
Does that make me a bad person?
Think this is turning into a confessional?! Lol
Okay I’ll play, I occasionally sit down on loo when taking piss when bevied 😬

Stand or Sit ??
I do a bit of both and usually stand on downhill sections as it easier to transfer weight, fore & aft or side to side
Uphill - I usually sit, as it’s easier to load the back wheel for traction, by transferring weight to the rear mudguard area
However I do come from a Trials riding background, from the age of 12 where standing up, is the normal mode …although Trial and Trail bikes are totally different

I've always stood up when trail riding the nadgery, rutted stuff as I find it easier to control the bike and can look further down the trail. It's also a lot easier to jump off a moving motorcycle when not sat down bnige

For higher speeds I always sit down ... natch :D:D
I bet when you stand up you can almost see over the top of the screen. :) :p

I've done that when shit faced, normally to stop shitting myself while I throw up in the sink!

I do a mix of on the seat and on the pegs. I stand to move about the bike more easily on dodgy tracks, I sit on fast gravel stuff mostly, but do still stand. I spent good money on decent suspension for the 701LR, so my legs don’t act as shock absorbers, they are clamped against the Steg pegs, holding the bike. I also stand on the road on both my GS and 701LR. Recent TET trip to France and on the way back from the Troyes area, the long road stretches were made more palatable by standing up in the villages. Let’s the blood move around my arse cheeks and gets some welcome airflow into the suit. I don’t care if others thing I look daft stood up - my bike, my sore arse!

One place I always stand up is on the old railway lines around here. There are no longer any rails or sleepers but the ballast is very lumpy and I find I need to ride quite fast to go in a straightline. I’m sure there are other stances better suited to nadgery and hill climbing. My view is that if speed is not the issue then whatever works for you is the way to go.
No problem with that; but pulling into a tarmaced car park where there's plenty of spectators;; i mean visitors is'nt a good look; :D :beerjug:,
