Hi all,
Strange problem on my 2000 R1150GS

Today, tank 1/2 to 3/4 full of gas before leaving. Backed the cold bike out of the garage onto driveway, which has a slight downward slope. The nose of the nose of the bike was pointing uphill.

Started the bike, and in the 20 seconds it took me to put my gloves and sunglasses on, there was a puddle of fuel under the bike.

It was dripping down from the inside of the tank just above the air intake (left side). Bike was on the side stand - this doesn't happen with it on the center stand.

I stopped the bike, the drips stopped. Started it up again and blamo - more fuel.

Tried the same thing on a level surface - nada, nothing, right as rain.

Removed the tank - everything seems fine .. no obvious holes or problems. I just cannot figure where the gas could be coming from to leak down the left side of the tank?!!

Any advice?

Richard

Have you had any work done on the fuel supply?.ie new filter.
The system is pressurised to 40PSI and any looseness in the fuel line clamps usually ends up with fuel leaks.
Have you checked breathers/overflows for blockages etc?.

Take the tank off and check behind the shoe that holds the tank on the mounting rubbers

Set it on a cloth and roll it over so th e fuel fills the left side and watch for fuel emerging
