There are lots of posts regarding Starcom and Autocom fitment - most of which seem to be about where to put the control box. I'll be fitting a Starcom Advance next weekend (I hope) and having not fitted an intercom before would be interetsed to know where have you run your cables?

Bike will initially be set up for pillion, GPS and MP3. GPS and MP3 Should be easy enough - I'll run cable up to GPS somehow or other. Not sure on the MP3 - most of the time my iPOD will probably sit in my pocket, or on longer journeys in a tank bag, so I guess that the sensible thing to do would be to run the MP3 cable up to the ignition area - dunno - need to think about this some more. Any thoughts?

Where should I run the rider and Pillion intercom cables to? for the rider, is it to the back of the tank, between the seat and tank. How about the pillion? Between the rider and pillion seat?

Any suggestions would be really helpful. Any photos would be helpful too :thumb .

Thanks.

Hi Harry,

I've got my rider lead coming out in front of the seat and to the left of the tank. In terms of pillion, I've got the lead protruding between the rider and pillion seat but pocking out of the side rather than the top of the seat.

MP3 player leads get's tucked under the seat when not in use, but when I'm using it, I simply extend it out at the front where the front of the seat meets the tank and the lead runs up into my Tank bag where I keep the player.

Hope this helps.
Regards, Peter

Just fitted a Starcom to an 1150GSA. Fitting is fairly simple with plenty of options depending how you see yourself using the unit. Here's how I did it:

Main unit located just behind fuse box. I pick-up power from the tail light. Rider connection runs along the frame to the left hand side of the set and pops out at the tank. Pillion routed out from under the right hand side of the seat. I've fitted a Volume control to the handlebars and had no proble routing cables under the tank to get back to the seat - should be similar for the GPS. For MP3 - I keep the player in a tank bag so just route the audio connection under the seat and to pop-out in the centre of the seat/tank fit.
