Ive recently connected in my starcom 1 Advance to my GS. I bought the professional fitting kit to make it look better and easier to use which it does on both cases :bounce1
The reason i'm writing this thread is because of where I mounted it!!
I mounted it on the framework in a position that was easy to get to and just along from the panniers. I used cable ties and all looked neat and tidy, with a slight bit of slack cable hanging down. Not a problem I thought, until I had her in doors on the back. The suspension went down and the back wheel has shreaded all three cables (Three cables cost £55.00!!!) :blast Didn't occur to me at the time. It looked like there was adiquate clearence away from the back wheel. So just a warning to others out there as dim as me, expect the unexpected!! :nono

I've mounted mone under front seat -where manual would sit, no probs

Gday....Ive got the same set up, the best place to mount Starcom in my opinion is behind left hand tank cover [requires removal] Wrap Starcom in a thin layer of foam and jam it in! Out of sight, and reasonably waterproof.....Ps tape or secure the plugs in place!!! crap design and tend to come loose, otherwise a good unit. This install is only good for the smaller advance unit.....

The actual unit sits under the tool kit, had to cut the plastic tray to make it fit, but sits in nice and you still able to keep the tool kit in place. The trouble i had was the mounting bracket with connector ends, which needs to be in a position that the rider and pillian can access easily, what i done wrong was leave a slight bit of slack on the cable which resulted in the back tyre shreading it.
