First off, great service from Starcom today at the NEC where they sorted me out with a Starcom Digital and Kenwood radio for the girlfriend's F650GS. I was trying to get the less powerful Radio so I could get myself out of receiving distance that much quicker and wouldn't have to put up with idle chitchat and observations about cow's udders etc.etc. Also picked up a remote for my own Starcom Digital. Free fitting kit (or bluetooth module) as a show special and a decent discount for mentioning the GSer club membership - really happy.

Starcoms seem to be in the minority here and trying to find photos (not just text) of where best to fit any of the comms systems seems a bit hit and miss. Can't find that all encompassing post which really shows me what I should be doing - or perhaps what NOT to do! What we could do with is a sticky which has some decent photos of where and how to wire in a system, be it Starcom or whatever you happen to have (I promise to take some photos myself when the time comes to get my pliers out). Have fitted a Starcom to a GS, but never a GSA - any ideas other than the back of the tank (which seems to be the worst place to put the main unit)? Any photos available to show me the best routing for cables? Any advice greatly received.
Chars,

Harry

Also picked up a remote for my own Starcom Digital.

Do you mean PTT (Push To Talk)? Just checking as I am sure I have every available toy for my Starcom!

Can't help with photos as I have a GS but would comment that Starcom seem to supply an extraordinary ammount of wiring with all their products. It is a real problem trying to find spaces on the bike to store all the excess wire. I have moved the tool kit to a tool tube to accomodate the Kenwood radio and the cubby hole under the toold tray is bursting. I do plan (with the help of Wapping) to shorten the leads where I can but having just fitted an Odyssey battery, the space is even more restricted under the seat.

No, got a PTT, but also got a remote!! It's a bit bigger than a credit card and allows me to control the volume without having to play with the unit directly. I've just been looking for it on the website, but can't find it. Part number is REM-01 and there is a picture of it on the back of the digital kit box... it's also on page 9 of the digital manual.... looks like you need to go shopping!
Had been thinking about the cable quantity as had also thought about a pro fit kit, but that will just double the amount I have to tuck away.
