Found a few threads on the above subject as im looking at getting a further headset fitted in my Schuberth S1. However, my ears dont match with where the speakers should go in the helmet so my solution is to get some in ear phones. I know there are plenty out there and im sure i could quikly find a decent pair, my qeustion is this though, how do you then use the mike if you use a separate headset.
I only know of Starcom that do the plug phones that also conect up to the headphones.

Alot of people on here go on about the custom moulded jobs and Sony ones, but using these surely makes the mike on your headset in operable. ?

Hi Rescue,

As someone who sells these I've seen various things done. My suggestion to you would be.

1) Try using the standard headset. Even with the speakers in what looks like the wrong place you may still be able to hear what you need. (Certainly true for me with my Schuberth Concept) - you can then just get custom earplugs without the expense of the speaker component.

2) I can't speak for other earplug manufacturers as we all do things slightly differently, but it is possible to add continuous noise filters to the standard earplugs if the solid plugs block out too much noise. This can be retro fitted to the earplug so try solid first and if they don't do what you want the filters can be added - you don't need a new set of earplugs.

3) If that still isn't doing what you want then look at the custom monitors. Again, these can be retro fitted to your earplugs so you can have tried three different options without the expense of a new set of plugs each time.

To answer your question directly - Autocom do a lead (part 26 from memory) which comes in at around £25 (again worth checking) that you plug the custom monitors into. I'm pretty sure these are compatible with Starcom. These basically bypass the helmet speakers but keep the microphone active. It's a really neat fix and it doesn't alter the original headset in any way.

I've also seen people make up their own looms but it does mean butchering the original headset. This is fine if you're sure of what you are doing but would probably be quite expensive to pay someone to do (well more than £25!)

Hope that helps.

Maybe you could give me a good deal. Me and Short001 are looking at getting something half decent for our Norway trip in June. Both have Schuberth Concept's so any recomendations? Whats best ? Comfort , Distance etc? And of course the price :D

I'm not going to fekkin Germany to fit you :D

Seriously though I try not to 'do business' on the site as it's not why I'm here - I'm here for the bikes.

Also I am a Green Leopard agent and we operate on a franchise basis so I'm not going to start poaching customers from other areas offering them discounts and the like. If you happen to be from my area I'll happily knock something off the price - it's worth asking whoever your local agent is as there are a few of us on ukgser...

I'm also not going to slag the competition off or tell you we are better than them or any of that nonsense.

What I will say is that what you probably need is a standard solid plug. You may want to add filters if you can't hear as much as you want but it's always a good idea to start with a solid plug as this will offer you the maximum protection. Current Green Leopard RRP is £55 for solid plugs although prices vary slightly between agents (some have bigger overheads than others).

Comfort wise I can say from personal experience that these are comfortable for a ten hour day riding. I personally find them uncomfortable to sleep in but I know other people who find they are great for sleeping.

The plugs should last you years (mine are three years old and counting...) and are fully CE approved.

If you are going to the BMF show and want to pop in and see some and have a proper chat I'll be there...

Schiannini, Thx for that. appreciated. Sounds like a reasonable price, and looks ok.(Did A Search)

I did not realise that you had to be fitted etc.... :eek So will have to get my German book out again and try over here first i think..
