i recently purchased a bmw system 6 helmet and a headset from starcomm - the headset comprises a pair of speakers - associated cables and a bud style mike - the system 6 is a modular helmet so here is my query - has anyone installed the speakers and bud mike to this style of helmet and how did you route the cables - thanks

cables come out the left hand side - but your choice.

the cutouts will need moulding with a warm spoon to get the speakers to site correctly.

wires are around the back.

Boom mic was a pain so I used their bud mic and stuck it to the chin piece - wires threaded through the hinge.

I use in ear monitors instead of speakers and standard earplugs. Starcom do a harness that comprises the bud mike, a connector to attach to the main cable and a second connector to plug in the monitors.

Works a treat with crystal clear sound at low volume straight into your ears instead of speakers trying to get the sound past the earplugs that are supposed to keep excessive sound out.:blast:)

Me too (now) with a boom mic. Tried the bud mic but was concerned that the wires would wear against the hinge.

packer - can you elaborate upon this - how exactly do you use in ear monitors with standard earplugs

That should have read "instead of standard plugs and in helmet speakers" Thos.

Product uep75. Not cheap but I find that they are exceptionally good. Much better attenuation than ordinary disposable plugs and more selective too. e.g. I can still hear the roar of a car tyres if they move into my blind spot. You can enjoy quality music and hear it clearly even with he volume very low as it's piped directly into your lug. That also means you can still hear what is going on around you.

Chas, I've always managed to break the main harness before the mike wire failed and as I do a lot of short journeys the wire gets a good workout.
