you think China does not already have access to the data in those cables? HMG has fessed up about Hikvision CCTV and Huawei comms in the network, but how much more of the infrastructure is compromised? Not just Chinese branded stuff but stuff we buy in good faith from UK, EU or US sources that is assembled using chips made or designed in China?

I am at the Docklands’ Museum, having just listened to a talk on London’s original ‘Chinatown’ and the import of tea. This afternoon, a guided tour of parts of the museum.

My parents bought all their loose tea from a tea merchant, just off Fenchurch Street, as their parents had done. It’s sadly now gone. The odd thing is that, had the merchant survived, it might have done very well from the rise of ‘real food’ online.

Tea chests (we had several) are now sought after. I wonder how many were burnt?

Nowadays, one uses empty wine cases. I still have a few around the house, still not unpacked after a house move in Oct 2023! Laithwaites, Waitrose and Wine Society mostly.
