almost entirely randomly (although some bias towards the morning after a long journey after lots of commuting if you see what i mean) the exhaust on my '99 1150 is occasionaly very smokey. It does not seem to matter whether I'm running a lot or a minimal amount of oil, cold weather or warm. My only guess is that being on the sidestand doesn't help (accumulation of oil) but then surely this would happen everytime i start the bike.. any ideas out there?

"They all do that sir!!"

Side stand and facing slightly downhill makes it worse in my experience. Oil get through into left hand pot.

No problems after 30,000 miles and 2 years on mine so far.
