Starter motor clutch

Anyone had a starter motor clutch thingy go in their G650X? ( I think that's what its called)

Mine suddenly started to make a real rattley noise - turns out its lost a tooth off one the gear bits - not sure which one coz I'm not that mechanically competent in pulling engines part - £300 odd quids worth of parts and 1 .5 hours labour quid to put right. So not cheap to sort out.

I've not seen anything in the forums about this on any one else bike.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Yep... that sounds about right. Shouldn't really happen on a bike with less than 4k miles on it though!

Why - It could be a battery issue. Was it hard to start?. Breaking a tooth is unusual
