Starter motors - confused

Been looking around to see if i can shed any light on my hot starting problem..

Using real OEM and entering my Vin, it comes back with the following

04/2006 R1200gs EUR

Bike was registered 10/06 ( Bugger missed iABSII, by 3 months lol)

It should be fitted with a Bosch starter (7691956)

The Valeo units were not introduced until 11-2006

Now looking t Motorworks website, it says the Valeo & Bosch units are not interchangeable ..

That could make sense, in which case i have the wrong starter fitted ....

But according to there data

The Valeo item is 09-2003 - 08-2007 and not interchangeable

The Bosch unit 09-2007 - 08-2009 & 09-2009 - 08-2012 -does not fit pre 2008 but will fit

everything else.

SO potentially is my problem i have the wrong starter fitted??

Whichever starter is now fitted to your bike is the one that you will need.
