fitted a new starter to my R1150gsa 3 months ago and recently when i come to start it clock has reset to 00.00 and then yesterday pushed starter button and the starter sounded like a grater 
Took starter off connected to another old battery and it spins and works fine
had battery on charger showing 13 volts fully charged push button and same again rattle rattle grate grate
bike is 10 years old and this is second battery both have been exide gel batteries (original BMW and Exide )
so my thoughts are battery is ker plu knackered
am i correct or is it something else ???
