Starter Problem

Hi lads I dont uses the R80G/S that often but lately when I try to start it from cold the starter spins Sometimes it catches just for a half turn then spins again once its been run for a bit its fine.
Any ideas??

Are you saying the starter is spinning without engaging the flywheel (and hence turning the engine)? If so, it sounds like the solenoid is sticking.

Take it apart, clean and lubricate it and reassemble. Also check the movement of the gear on the bendix and clean and lubricate that.

If you have a valeo starter, dont take the starter itself apart because the plastic part that holds the brushes gets very brittle with age.
