Hi, New to this forum and new to being a BMW owner. Brought a 1996 R1100GS a few weeks ago and was getting on very well with her. All was fine until trying to start her earlier today. The starter motor sounds like it's turning but clicks repeatedly and she refuses to start. Any ideas? any help gratefully appreciated.

The first thing to check is battery. Just try a jump start and see if it starts. Next battery connections and then leads and earths. Take it from there. JJH

+1 JJH.
Jumpstart it off a car battery. Ensure the car isn't running.

high compression twins need a battery in top condition.

HI, I installed a new battery on Sunday and she fire first time. I then spent a couple of hours buzzing around mid/north devon on a lovely sunny day. Thanks for your responses and I think I'm going to like being a GS owner.

had the same symptoms on my 1150, new bty started once or twice ended up with recon starter the cover plate had shorted on the armature spot on now and the original bty holds it's charge perfectly so got a spare bty now as well,
