Ive got a wee prob with the GS.In the last day or two ,when Ive went to start the GS all I get is a click.
Things that Ive ruled out are-
Seized/jammed box
Flat battery
If I didnt know better I would Have sayed the engine had a seizure.
Anyone else had starter bendix/ring gear probs?
Or anyone else any Ideas whats up?

Ps I can eventually get the motor going by sticking it in gear and trying to turn the wheel as if freeing a sticking startermotor.

Doogs

Have you tried checking your battery and starter terminals are tight?

Starter motor or solenoid from those symptoms perhaps. Good luck, let us all know when you do suss it.

If your bike is an AIRHEAD (I do wish people would tell us what bike the question is about!!!!!) then your problem is that the magnets have detached themselves from the starter motor casing and are jamming it up. Go to a place that reconditions starters for Peugeot/citroen cars. The same motors are used on some of their models.

Left click on profile, Bingo!

Yes, could do, but some people don't list their bike(s)!

Come on H play the game - you and I know full well this is first and foremost an 1150 forum - and there are three unwritten rules, firstly you are presumed to have an 1150GS - UNLESS CLEARLY SPECIFIED OTHERWISE IN THE SUBJECT HEADER . Secondly, all Airhead owners MUST post only in the one forum specifically for them, irrespective of the reason. And lastly is you have an 850/1100 and you post you have to accept the answers will be presumed to relate ONLY to 1150's (at this point Malky is wetting himself on his study floor).

Oh and fourthly (yeah I know there wasn't a fourth), 650 owners, 99% of the boards forums, bollox aside, is of absloutley no relevance to you whatsoever but you're still welcome anyhow. If I had one of these I'd be petitioning Mr G for our own little S&M corner - (its all about chains n stuff) :D

Hey guys,Ive got a few posts on this board and some of them state Ive got a 1150.Also theres always the option of going to the profiles.
Anyway back to the problem,it seems to dissapear when the tempreture rises(above -5).I may be clutching at straws but I washed the bike for the first time the other day and it only happened after that.I may have been a bit over enthuasiastic with the hose(after spending about an 2 bloody hours thawing it out).As a mechanic(ex) I checked all the usual stuff-battery and terminals/connections fine.Gearbox ok.Engine not siezed.Solinoid ok.Voltage ok.
Anyone ever heard of a starter shaft/bendix freezing? Me neither but as the bike is kept outside and it has been below -5 at night and an excess of water after washing it and it only happens when its that cold I cant think of any thing else.If it happens again Ill get it to a dealer as its still under warrenty.

Grief and now I have all that mess to clear up !

Sounds like the R1100R problem I had back in about 1998. A sticking starter relay due to the back feed test current from the mototronic unit. The relay unstuck like a good un with 13.2 volts up its jakzi from a battery, but with a volt and a half the other way from the mototronics it worked two or three times then stuck. A new relay fixed it. As the bike was 6 weeks old, you could only put this down as a duff bit from Bosch.
