I've posted this here because I have been told that apparently this has been effecting 1200GS as well......

My 1200RT has developed somekind of fault whereby when I put the key in and turn it on, nothing happens. It started out doing it every so often, but a few days ago it took ten minutes of 'jiggling' to get the ignition on.

Someone mentioned the EWS to me, but I have never seen this on the screen (once it switches on), so am kind of ruling that one out.

It's booked in to the dealers next week, but was wondering if anyone else has had this kind of problem?

I've never had any problems on three bikes........ and I think this is the norm. However if the antenna is at fault normally EWS displays. No doubt your dealer will fix; best of luck.

That's because you only keep your bike for half a year then part-x it.

The switch loom at the bottom of the ignition barrel could be up the left, or there is the code ring thingy (technical term) issue. Both fairly common faults. It's also possible that the key is faulty..... have you tried using a spare?

The EWS went on a 1200 I was riding and there was no message. I've got a mate who has had the same problem on a 1200GS and a K1200, and again there was no warning message :(

Hmmm,

mine has started doing this as well recently. When I first switch the ignition on nothing happens. I usually have to turn off, take the key out, then turn it on again for it to light up. doesn't normally take more than two times. Not sure if its a problem or normal?
