I had a really great Christmas. My neice ignoring the bike and playing in the boxes her new bike came in! Always happens:D

My Lady Sue bought me a GPS for the 1200. Halfords told her that a Navman Pocket 510 would be suitable! - need I say more?

They also said that the particular item was non-returnable so it's into battle when they open.

Anyone an expert on statutory rights? Looking for a refund to fund purchase of Garmin 2610.

Quote below is from the Citizens advice: http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index...ods.htm#Whatareyourlegalrightswhenyoubuygoods

It would seem to me they have sold the system as being suitable for being used on a motorbike (verbal description) and it definately is not. You therefore have a statutory right to return the goods. Thats my interpretation anyhow.

What are your legal rights when you buy goods

When you buy goods (including goods supplied as part of a service), the law gives you certain rights as a consumer. The law says that the goods must:-

-be of satisfactory quality. This means that the goods should be of the quality that a reasonable person would expect given the description, price and any other relevant circumstances. You can take into account the appearance and finish of the goods, and whether there are any defects (including minor ones). You can also take into account whether publicized information about specific features of the goods is accurate, and whether the goods are safe when used properly

- be fit for the purpose. This means that you must be able to use them for the purposes that you would normally expect from this type of product

-match their description. This means that if there is a verbal or written description of the goods, it must be accurate. And if you choose goods after seeing a sample, your goods must match the sample.

It is a criminal offence for a trader to put a false description on goods. For more information on criminal offences and the sale of goods, see under heading, Criminal offences and the sale of goods.

As a consumer, you have the right to return the goods and get your money back if they are not of satisfactory quality, are not fit for their purpose, or do not match their description. Alternatively, you may have the right to compensation. You may have the right to ask the trader to repair or replace the goods, to get some of your money back, or to cancel the contract you made when you bought the goods. If the trader offers you a credit note, you do not have to accept it (see under heading Additional rights).

276C

Have you considered the 276C, its a bigger screen, higher resolution, its the smallest of the marine plotters but it has all of the automobile functions of a 2610 and much more, at a little bit dearer than th 2610, about £ 610 at Aspidshop.com.
You need the 276C and the Automotive add on kit, both for about that price.

I have a BMW Navigator but the 276C would be my choice nowadays.

Thanks for that Jim

Did get the money back for the Navman and I'll look at the 276C
