I am sure I read here some time ago of someone having fitted a Strebel Nautilus horn to their 1150GSA.

I just bought one from Nippy Norm, but the horn is much too large to fit in the standard position, it fouls the fork stantions etc.

Please can anyone advise me where the new unit can be fitted ?

Thanks in advance

I got my bracket made by a forum member and I cant remember his name. Do a search under stebel and you will find it. Great horn..... dont try it in a garage :D :D :D

Make a Right angle bracket about 40mm each leg from 15mm wide steel or alloy and mount it in the original position trumpet down.

Take a prod at that search tab up there and stick in "nautilus mount" - yer man Gotterdamerung (or Damtheguttering, I can't remember) has done a sparkling bit of "how to" with pictures.

I recall some discussion around horizontal or vertical mounting somewhere on this site but my search didn't bring it up. Pace jimb but I think the agreed view (hah!) was horizontal mounting reduces water intake and subsequent dead horn syndrome.

I just ordered one from Motor World because I hadn't spotted that Norm was doing the damn things. Bugger, I'd rather have given him the business.

I just fitted a nautilus and at first was faced with the same dilemna that everyone seems to be confronted with in that it just seems to big to fit where the stock horn is......but after some fettling and general poking around I found it fits in so easily.

I have a 1100 so it may be different on 1150's but the bolt that the original horn bolts on to is part of a bracket. There is another bolt that goes horizontally from left to right above it and this bolt holds the original horn bracket in place. I removed the bolt and took the mounting plates from the original horn and fitted them so the go straight down parrallel with the fork leg.

The nautilus can simply be bolted directly onto that bracket and it is set far enough back to not interfere with the forks and it clear the suspension too.

The next part of the puzzle was the wiring . It comes with it's own relay and the wiring diagram leaves you puzzled to say the least. I just used the exisiting wiring from the original horn - hit the button and feck me !!!!!!! What a blast :D Nautilus installed and working easy as you like .

Wot???

Nippy sent me an e-mail some time ago and asked if he could use the fitting photo's I'd posted on here.

Has he stopped including the instructions?

(I'll delete the link to his site on my blog, that'll sort him:D )

Send me a PM if you need the pictures.

Mike.

Didn't buy it from NN.....got it in Holland for Euros amount that NN sells it in pounds.
I saw your pics and was starting to head towards that set up when I seemed to stumble on an easy alternative. You can see for yourself if you like at the hog roast :P
