Had a real job getting the steering lock to release on my recently acquired 1150 GSA. Key would turn easily and ignition come on but steering lock pin clearly wouldn't release. After rattling it around for a bit it released but then I heard something drop out. It appears to be the pin that enters either one of the holes each side and therefore prevents the forks turning for security. Anyway, the pin has now dropped out and whatever was retaining it as part of the lock given way! At least I can now ride the bike but it would be nice to fix it. It was dark so haven't fully inspected but is it straightforward? I suspect not. Wondering if it is covered by the BMW equivalent warranty I was promised with the purchase. Ideas anyone?

Hi Andy

It should be covered under warranty - getting the lock out is relatively straightforward but there's clearly something not right there and sale of goods act would also apply under the fit for purpose test.

Interesting
Of late, some times mine has be difficult to move from the locked position (default how I leave the bike)
Thinking of dropping some graphite powder in the lock mechanism but not sure that will actually fix it, I think the locating pin(s) are sticking / stuck.

Any thoughts and suggestions?

thanks
