Evening all,
recently picked up an 05 plate 1150GSA and whilst its pretty darn perfect, I have noticed a slight "steering wobble" under certain conditions, normally at slow speeds or when I roll off the throttle.
Its not enough to make me panic but having owned three of them in the past and never had it before, I know its not the norm.
The tyres are good old "attak's" and dont seem to have any lumps or blemishes anywhere. Could it be these tyres? (Always had Metzlers before)
Any thoughts??

Never had an 1150 but did have a few 1200 both gs and GSA and they did seem to wander a bit at slow walking pace speeds. So does my 800gsa. The 700 gs doesn't seem to. How is the tyre pressure? Funny as it might seem but is the rear pre-load jacked up to maximum? Of course check wheel bearings and the drive flange bearing. Funny how that bearing can make the bike do funny things-not. Jjh

Check the simple things first
tire pressure, wheel bearings when on center stand
paralever bearings and final drive bearings

feel the tire, does it feel good?

I put TKC70 on recently and it has taken a few weeks to get used to them, quite scary at first.
I too had the same feeling, and also on corners, thought it was going to fall over!

Worth checking if fork legs have twisted slightly in the yolk. This can cause slow speed "wobble". Easy check- slacken the lower yolk bolts, realign and re tighten.

Is it at 30-40mph on a trailing throttle ?

Check your front tyre pressure - I bet it's too low

If none of the above work, might be the tyres themselves. There were some dodgy front Attacks a while ago which wobbled enough to be irritating

Front Trail Attack, check the production date on the sidewall. I had 2 faulty tyres , one about 3 year ago and the other one about 18 months prior to that , they would cause a steering wobble on a trailing throttle

Thanks all, plenty to check there but having done a bit more research, it does appear that Attak's are a bit marmite!
I'll have a shufty at these bits and get back on here
Cheers!

My first faulty TA was on my 1150 and it was replaced by the dealer and all was fine, the second faulty one was on the front of my r1200 gsa and was even worse, again it was replaced by the dealer .

Since then I haven't bothered buying any more TA's and started fitting Dunlop TR91's

wobble on trailing throttle - same problem with trail attacks on my 1190 KTM.

i contacted conti and their tech guy says it's normal wear. nice to know they make a tyre that's fucked in under 4K miles
