Ive just bought a GS1100 thought it was running uneven so went about balancing the injector bodies and adjusted the wrong screws...doh!:blast
Since then I have bought a Haynes manual which says: 'the two limiter screws on the inner face of the throttle pullies' should not be adjusted... doh doh doh! I have put them back to where I think they were. Can anyone tell me what they will do, what problems this will cause? Am I now going to have to go to a BMW dealer and pay ££££££s to get this sorted? I'm pretty clued up when it comes to working on bikes, but this is my first BM and first injection bike, the screws looked like balancing screws. Can someone give me any advice please. Thanks Yours hopefully Tobermory :thumb2

If you have not disturbed the TPS then you could be saved:D Have a look at this site,
http://www.ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/zero-vom/index.shtml
connect your multimeter as described, then using the screw you disturbed on the left body set the voltage to the idle value. BINGO follow the description in the zero zero section to balance/ set the other side. YOU DO NOT NEED TO MOVE THE TPS.

I'd be very wary about trying the 'zero=zero' procedure, as several of the more clued-up members on here have warned very strongly against it. However that may have been for an 1150 (like mine) and not an 1100 like yours.

This is definitely a time to sit down, put the kettle on and do some careful research, before tweaking anything.

Steptoe uses the word 'bollox' when zero=zero rears its ugly head.. thats enough for me. I don't think he differentiates between the 1100 and 1150 when making that remark.

I've said in earlier posts that zero=zero was originally developed in america to cure 'surging' its one of those things that seems overcomplicated and highly technical - so the yanks love it... never known of a bmw dealership that will use it - certainly none that I've ever used. seems to me that its one of thos things thats taken on almost mythical proportions as a cure-all. but in reality is total nonsense.

Thanks for jumping on my head chaps, if you read my post you will see in CAPITAL LETTERS that I advise not to touch the TPS, I was trying to get the original poster back to his original tickover settings by using the voltage information contained therein:spitfire
I was born yersterday.

PS I had to do the zero zero procedure on my bike, its running fine

cheers guys for all your help. Im going to do a bit more reading as advised. Thanks again, ill let you know what happens. Tobes:beerjug:
