Steptoe link

Someone mentioned the 'Steptoe link' in relation to set up with alternative exhausts. What is this, please? I run a Remus 'Y' connector pipe with the stock silencer which is on a longer than stock (high level) connecting pipe to accomodate my lugage. I have no specific problems apart from occasional and totaly random back firing, which at least serves to keep me awake. Thanks.
