Steptoes Moroccan Dash 2

Hi Mike

Dwight at your workplace told me you were doing this one. Is Dr Rich an acquantence of yours too? Really interested in this but it's a confidence thing. New Years resolution is to do more events and trips. This sounds rather fun.
Will have a re-read of my signature and convince myself it's a good thing.
Where are you thinking of doing the "serious riding"? I'd certainly need some.

Steve

Hi Steve,

I will get your details off Dwight and give you a call. I will also sign up as site sponsor so as to expand my capabilities on the site. I do not know Dr Rich (yet).......

I've been asked by a few people about meeting on the way.
We aren't waiting for anyone, the channel tunnel times are the latest times were leaving.
If you can't those times, get an earlier train, not a later time, and wait at the services after the terminal exit. Just let me know.
Same if going by ferry, get across earlier and we'll catch up with you on the autoroute on the way to bodeaux.

This is the whole point of this type of "On the Run" ride. Just turn up and go. As carefree and relaxed as possible. And some of the questions being asked don't fit in with the whole idea of this type of ride.

....Believe me, you'll see so, so much, that you wouldn't think possible in the time.

Three different countries, a different continent, a culture that hasn't changed for hundreds of years, and kebabs .

Ditto what Steptoe is saying.

Went last year. Going again this year. Worked out in advance that the time /distances meant hard riding. Didn't know anyone before I got on the train. Had a good laugh at many of the stops. Very relaxed 'organisation' appealed. Found a real willingness to pitch in if anyone had a real problem. Worked out that with a credit card, some local dosh and a bit of insurance I was going to be much richer than many of the locals and could probably get home or decent help if it all went badly tits up.

Is it the Dakar rally? No. Is it an easy bimble around familiar roads? No. Will you have a good time if you approach it all with an open mind? More than likely, yes.

I know none of you on this thread (although I do know a few from here  ) :)
I'm still a probable although trying to negociate my way out of being meant to be here after the 6th :blast but should get that resolved by end weekend.
Looking forward to this.

No qualms about the big quick road miles, done that quite a bit. Less experience/ ability on hard trails but that goes for most of us I guess. Fine on road type tracks.

MikeHi, just seen you are in Bristol. I live juts outside but work at uni. Should meet up before this adventure:beerjug:

No hard trails planned at all, i'll be sticking the the black hard stuff .

But there will be a couple of options for those that would like to go on a couple of short sections.

Hi guys

This sounds like a fantastic trip and I would love to join you.

Donnie

Anyone's welcome. Don't be put off by the amount of posters wanting to go, they'll be quite a few who have to pull out/cancel.
But you'll also have the folks that leave it to the last minute and just turn up on the day.

ok ill wait to hear your "idea".

Just so's a don't end up as one of those (give notice the day before, meet at the ferry) kind of guys, I'll put my 2 bits in here, now...

I'm thinking of perhaps joining in on this one if my Wife (who really wants to take the campervan along the Rhine for Easter) gets busy at work.

It's a remote possibility, but as we get close, I'll be hedging my bets by having the correct insurance and stuff prepared in case I decide to jump on me bike and suck up the abuse (and Moroccan sights) for a week.

I'm in The Hague, so I'd be at the meeting spot in Calais.

Al...

I have an extra day , so I think I will cross to France on the Friday , have a lie in and meet you in Calais on Saturday . It sounds as if I will need the sleep.
