Stick coils suck

Your not wrong.
Though they say the new ones are OK.
I hope, so having just replaced my two...

Via eBay and collected from my local Argos..
No problems..
Excellent cheers Ash

I'll order some tomorrow

I take it you slipped the rubber tip from the old one onto he new one and they work fine?

Indeedy..... :thumb2

A guy Stateside over on the R****R forum just replaced them with a stock coil and plug leads.....just got to match the specs of the stick coil.....think he used something of a Ford pick up.
It's been suggested there that corrosion is the main cause of failure. One of mine was rusty so I carefully cleaned it up and treated it with some Jenolite(?) then plenty of silicone grease/spray on reassembly.
Ohh, and pull the coil off straight, DO NOT rock it side to side at all.....this is where the silicon grease pays off.

I read that post too some time back

Seems like a great and cheap workaround using the ford F150 leads

Both my stick coils have no signs of wear and tear, they are in pretty good shape.

It's a twin spark

I disconnected the secondary leads and ran it on the primary's - rough as as a badgers arse!

Disconnected the cable on the left coil and the engine cut out

Ran it up again and did the same on the right side and it still kept running, no change.

Swapped the coils over did the same test and again the faulty coil when disconnected made no change to the running of the engine.

Ordered 2 from the vendor detailed in an earlier post so that should resolve it all.

Thanks for the tips on ref silicon grease 👍
