Stickiest tyres for stock wheels

I rode for over ten years before I did a trackday, I think I learnt more about my capabilities and my bikes in the one day than I did in the previous ten years.

Smogbob I have plenty...but on paper.Nothing on GS though.All S1000RR and a few on R1200S.
I'm 52 now feel like I have a few years left...with 60 I want to be as fast as Rossi...:D
I just don't enjoy it as much anymore as I used too...it got expensive and more serious chasing times and getting older the bones don't mend as fast anymore...;)

Go to Cadwell Park, you'll get a picture going over the Mountain on one wheel :D

Or go to Ron Haslam Race School and hire their bikes :)

Ta mate but have places closer to home in Germany, and would like to do it on my own bike just to learn a bit more as GB says.

Yes I can imagine costs are high, if just in tyres alone.

I don’t know what a trackday costs now but I expect it to be around the £100+mark, I think that’s a reasonable day out when you compare it to watching 22 blokes kick a bag of air for 90mins. 6-8 sessions a day, a tank of fuel, with care the right tyres won’t suffer to much if you have your suspension set correctly and smooth with the throttle. It’s one of my favourite days out.

Will certainly be on my bucket list next year.

PST2 are the finest fast road tyres available for the GS imho. Great feel, rate of turn, and grip. Better than CRA3.

At the moment I don’t know, I think it’s between the conti and the Pirelli

Do you want the tyres that give one fast lap and then fade, or the tyre which gives 20 consistent laps?

The later obviously, doubt you would get the former in GS sizes

CRA3 and PST2 are both available in GS sizes...on the track the Conti has a slight edge I would say...a very good tire with almost Metzeler M7 Sportec level performance while the Pirelli has the edge on the street due to longer tire life. You can't go wrong with either one !

I think I’m going to go with the Pirelli, just need to order a set and book a trackday now. My TCK70 that are on my alloys still have some life in them so I may swap my wires for them to use them up before I fit the Pirelli’s.

GB good choice...if you crash get 17 inch wheels and put M7 Sportecs on...;)
Great trackday/street tire for a bike with only 115 rwhp !

Mine might just make a little more than 115 but I’ll probably only use 80 of it
