Hi, my 12gs has started to get a sticky ignition barrel, is this common?
Does it respond well to a drop of WD40 or similar?
Its going to be a few days till i'm in range of a dealer.

I'd use 3 in 1 oil rather than WD40. WD40 is so thin it will just run out again. On all my bikes, I put a few drops of 3in1 into the ignition once a week or so, it's never done any harm :)

Flush out with WD40, let it drip out and then use some graphite, it lubricates but is not sticky so does not catch bits of dirt or use silicon but not oily stuff.

Do NOT use WD-40 in a lock! It leaves behind a gummy residue that dirt will cling to. Buy the purpose-made graphite lock lubricant and use it sparingly. Call a locksmith and ask what to use if you have further doubts.
