Slightly baffled at the moment. Helped a mate replace a clutch and pressure plate + bearing/seals in his 1150GS. Got everything put back together but noticed you can't pull in the clutch as it only moves a couple of mm and rock solid.

The slave cylinder was replaced not long ago and all nice and clean. The swingarm is still off and can get a reasonable view of the setup and everything looks ok. Just bled the clutch again and once you open the bleeding scew you can pull the clutch in fine and it pumps. The moment you close the system at the top of the reservoir and by the bleeding screw the clutch lever does not move.

What am I doing wrong :blast :D

Suggestions appreciated thanks :thumb

Are you sure you’re bleeding the right lever? The clutch is the one on the left. Welcome back:)

:D :D

I am sure I am bleeding the right lever or is that the left :eek

Left lever for sure and where I was topping up as the fluid in there dropped whilst pumping ;)

I haven't taken the slave cylinder apart as it is new but could something in there be sticking?

Clutch plate in back to front or the easy one to check Pushrod in back to front

The short turned end goes in the clutch slave cylinder

the long bit goes up in the pressure disc

All of above correct and checked.

Let me explain in more detail. At the moment the slave cylinder is hanging loose at the back so not connected to the gearbox. So at this point it has nothing to push against like the pushrod etc. All I can think of now is the slave cylinder is stuck at either end.

So the piston in the cylinder is 'out', and there's nothing to push it back 'in' :nenau

Errrr I think you guys are not on the same page as my badly explained post :D

Bled and re-installed. Putting the bike in gear and then pulling in the clutch can't turn the gearbox over....if that make sense.

Friction plate fiited the wrong way round.
Or the splines of the gearbox aren't lined up with the splines on the friction plate and the clutch plate is now squashed against the diaphram/flywheel. Hence why it can't move back.
If you've done this you may have "dished"(distorted) the friction plate. You'll find out when you remove it.
