So this is my first weekend with my '07 1200 GS and I can already see why the bike has so many followers!

The only issue I have with the bike is the seat release lock mechanism. Turning clockwise to release the pillion seat is very smooth and works fine BUT turning anti clockwise is VERY stiff and they only way to operate the lock is with a leatherman on the key and gently (no risk of snapping the key) easing it round. I have squirted some Oxford Locklube in but it doesn't seem to have made a great deal of difference though. Anyone suggest a fix or experienced a similar issue?

+1 on the solution:thumb2

Great, thanks all. Just one of the idiosyncrasies of the bike I suppose! Forums like this are great, have allowed a new rider/owner to access a wealth of free info and knowhow! :thumb:thumb

It can be a real bugger to get off if you have anything squashed beneath the seat. Make sure the tool kit and other bits that live under there aren't pressing against the seat base.
