Still can't get Google Maps into MapSource properly

Hi,

I think the problem is me with this one.... I've checked out all the posting I can find on here and still not able to get the result I want.

Basically I want to be able to plan my route on Google Maps (even down to me picking individual roads and rubberbanding the route around). Then when I'm happy with it, I want to take that exact route into Mapsource so I can push it up to my Zumo 550. I'll only use mapsource to be the tool to put the route from google maps onto my zumo.

I've tried all the advice on creating a GPX file and tried pulling that into mapsource but all I get is a large amount of waypoints (I think thats what they are) and a route which looks kind of like like the one I planned in google maps.

Is there a product out there which lets me take the exact route into my zumo?

Sorry if this seems like I've asked the same question as a load of other people but I just can't get the googlemaps result I want on mapsource.

Bump. Again apologies if I've missed the obvious solution. Seems to be lots of advice out there on changing formats and importing to google earth, but I can't find anything that will take a google map route and allow me to import it into my Zumo. ( I did find an add on in Google maps which claims to do this but no joy )

Hi Gypsy,

I had exactly the same problem as you and spent loads of time on trying to get it to work. I managed it in the end and did screen dumps to a file to remind me how I did it. It now works everytime.

Let me just find the file out and I'll tart it up a bit then I can send you a copy of it if you want.

I know it's not an answer to your question but my advice would be to spend some time getting to know your way around Mapsource and use that for your route planning. It's the product designed for use with your GPS and is fairly easy to use as a custom routing tool

Thanks for that, and I agree. Have been using Mapsource extensively since I had the Zumo. However often ride with peeps who don't have GPS, who do the route on Google Maps, and it would be nice to be able to transfer directly to the Zumo.
