Please all keep an eye out for my two bikes that were stolen last night from my locked garage (18th June 2012). They are an orange KTM 525XC Desert Racer and a KTM 990 Adventurer in White.

The 525XC (OU06 FPO) is an off-road model which is quite distinctive since it has a large acerbis fuel tank for long range use. It has an orange 50tooth rear sprocket and the 2007 front mudguard and Light (It is a 2006 bike). It also has USD Black forks with WP Suspension stickers. Loddon Vale stickers on 3 sides, It also has a tool pack on the rear (I know the contents). Rear Maxxis tyre and front EnduroCross. Both wheels & hubs straight and true. Newish orange drive chain.
Exhaust is standard KTM but has some burn marks on it from my trousers (again I can recognise it). Distinctive top anodized tripleclamp - this is a rare imported item from the US and is unlikely to be on UK bikes. Also has mount for SatMap. Bike is in excellent mechanical condition but slightly scruffy externally

Second bike was a White 990 Adventurer 2009 (FJ09 DFF) with a grey rear topbox. There is a distinctive alteration in that it has a black high front mudguard rather than the typical white close to wheel one. This mod was only made this weekend so I have no pics but it is very distinctive - The brake lines for the front wheel are held up with wire holders (similar to a 950 SE). This bike is otherwise standard (bar a scott-oiler).

Please can you keep an eye out as they are both likely to be either stripped for parts or stolen to order. Helmets were also taken (Arai Tour-X with GS logo down each side).

Please contact me on 07723 474075 with any information.
Thanks
Mike

Sorry to hear that mate, will keep an eye out for you.

Really sickening to hear your news mate. I hope you get them back or that the scrotes that did it die a long slow painful death.

Really feel for you mate, it's a sickening feeling!

I'll keep an eye out in Kent, you never know ................

I think they're on a van heading for lithuania as we speak. Might go for a trundle around the area to see if they have been dumped for a tracker check.

Really sorry to hear about that:(

I'm always out and about in the area, i'll keep my eyes peeled:mad:

I'd guess that they used a van and may be well out of the area by now, did you spot anybody following you home recently?

Kin ell Mike I'm so sorry to hear this

I have posted a link to this thread on some other bike forums I frequent

Fingers crossed :thumb2

Sherfield Park - Next to Chineham.
Just informed insurance company who were extremely helpful and genuinely concerned. Sending documents over but nothing happening for 21 days to see if they are recovered.

Two bikes = 2 excesses - going to have hardly enough to get replacements at the end of it. Absolutely sick at the moment. Waiting for SOC to come around and finger print.

THe only people who have seen me working on the XC was the gardener who does all the communual lawns (Going to cycle around the area later to see if they have been stashed).

The clever guys are not easy to spot, they follow you back from an event/pub, but they do it in stages so perhaps they would clock you, follow you back to the estate, make a note of you and your machine, then perhaps come back in the week, wait around the same area they last spotted you, then follow you to your house, unfortunatly it's very difficult to stop anybody knowing where you store them, they might not even take them straight away, they could go around with a shopping list untill they have the buyers (there are still plenty around unfortunatly) then on one or two nights fill a van/container up and move them all on in the same week. Its the daft ones that keep hold of the bikes for a few weeks.

If it were just the dirtbike I'd say it were pikeys but the adv is a fair chunk of bike to get rid of.

Let's hope the insurance pay up quickly and at a realistic price.

Oh shit, no! Dude, I feel a little of your pain!
I'm f*cked if I know why the Police can never recover these bikes, as even if they are going abroad, there must be a constant stream now so an easy exit from UK exists, why is it not being plugged by the Police or Border Agency.:nenau

Sorry to hear about this as they look really nice bikes
Hope they turn up though the other posts make it seem unlikely

It does remind me of my excitable brother in law who has several cars and stores them in garages nearby to his house. He does not use the cars over winter as he in his delusional way believes that they are "show cars". One Spring morning he trolls off to the lock up garage and opens it up to find his pride and joy not there. Panic - fret - shout - panic and generally flap about - calls the police and they duly note the details. My sister then asks if he had checked any of the other garages. Sure enough the pride and joy is sitting there in the garage right next to the empty one. The muppet had forgotten he had changed garages the year before. :blast

I hope you find your pride and joys as easily

They do recover some, but its not easy, it's not as if some people still don't buy bike bits from backstreet breakers, and of course Ebay's a great release for stolen gear. Manufacturers could do a lot more to make all major component parts unique but fail to do so en masse.

It would be nice If a major manufacturer, perhaps even BMW, took the bull by the horns and invested in marking techniques and trackers, alarms and mechanical immobilisers 'in built' into all new models. Someone has to be first.

Dirt bikes are a real pain security wise, everybody wants them, kids, pikeys hard up racers etc. etc.

:(

Nothing yet - The Fuzz have been around today to get fingerprints

The observation was that it was an organised activity or extremely lucky gypsies. Still totalling up the personal stuff taken.
Helmets, Gloves, SatNav (was on the bike at time), jacket, tools.. At least a grand in misc bits.

Good news is, they are out on all the police computers including the MOT database. I have spread the word around to a number of bike dealers who are also on the look out in case they may get traded in. Had some good responses from the trade who are genuinely on the look out. Don't know how to get it on to the KTM computer system so if the bike goes to a dealer for a service that the ECU gets locked out - Have sent a message to KTM about this but not sure how proactive they will be. TBH, they are probably in a container heading east as I type.
