Not sure if this is the best section but here goes:

Has anyone used a gsm tracker (or other tracker) on their bike should some thieving low life decide to take it for a test ride?

I am looking at the ETS Mtrack system which was just got gold secure status.

But wondered if anyone else has used this or any other option?

cheers

Not used it but if your bike is taken for a ride in a metal van, and then unloaded inside a building, I think that the tracker will be as much use as a chocolate fire guard on bonfire night!

It may of course, still advertise where the remains are some time later, when the bits see open air again.

Metal van ! Big Shed !

I think this is the way to go.
I dont think that a metal van or a big shed is enough to hide.
In saying that i dont know.
I cant seem to get to the price page either.
J.C.B. are having a massive Success with recovering stolen Plant
mostly recovered from Ireland , so they can be international ?.

Tried getting reception inside a faraday cage aka white van / building?

Difficult isn't it.

So what does a tracker do that's so different?

Cars are another matter as being a lot bigger they're harder to enclose.

Am I missing the point? This is GSM technology, as in mobile phones, not GPS. I don't have any problems getting a signal inside my car or house on my phone so I don't see a tracker struggling... unless of course it's on the 3 network :D

Seems like a good idea but not cheap when you consider there is also an annual fee. The excess and increase in insurance premium after having a bike nicked is probably less than a couple of annual fees.

Ok for cars worth £50k+ but on a £10k bike what's the point.

Just secrete a phone on your bike then PM me and for a tenner I'll let you know where it is.

Bugger - didn't mean to say that. I cant do that, really & honestly as its very illegal and I'd be sacked.

My guess (if it was legal) would be within about 5 metres.
