stolen sat nav

muggins here decided to loan my mrs brother my garmin zumo 220... who then decided to have it stolen when he had "mates" around at his house...... fucking awesome......

any idea if there is a way to track them? i have the serial and it is registered etc...

as much as i have looked i cant see a way of doing it so here is my last ditch effort :/

Can't help with that sorry but don't worry too much , be glad they are not your mates and I am sure that the BIL will be buying you a new one ?

Better still get the cash off him and upgrade to the new 350

oh hes buying me a new one alright but didnt really get that "motorbike satnav" means fucking expensive and not the £25 one on ebay he wanted to replace it with...

i only want to track it so i can find where it is and give the new "owners" a kicki...... errr i mean the manual???.....

Mine is set to require a pin when it is switched on or to be at the pre-set location.
Not sure how difficult it would be to get around that, but at least it would cause some aggro to the thief. won't help you....
There is software to track phones so not sure why there isn't anything for gps, after all it's a gps so the location of it would not be a problem..

... is that unlike a phone the GPS is a receiver only and not a transmitter, therefore there's nothing to track

I've only ever lent my satnav out twice. Both times to very close friends. They were told "break it or lose it and you'll be buying me a new one. By the way, they are £600 to buy new". Not had any problems.
Doesn't help you I know. Sorry.

If you forget your PIN number it has to go back to Garmin too be unlocked. They can't come round your place "Home Location" and turn off the PIN as you need the PIN for that, so they would be screwed.... unless you have one of these....

Anyone with a SatNav should put in the address of the nearest Police Station to your house as "Home", because lets face it once you're that close to home you know the way, and anyone who does get their hands on it will get a shock if they follow the directions to "Home"

Set "home" from the middle of the local boating pond - that should work!

Don't assume folks can get around that easily .
I worked with a bloke for 3 years who used a Sat nav to commute. When it broke he had to get a taxi.

Sad but all too true.

Does it really matter if a sat nav has Home programmed in? We all live somewhere.

He's "lost" your Sat Nav so it's only good manners to replace it with the exact model, he should not have to be asked.

Second hand will do if new is not available.
