I'm planning to store my bike for probably around 12 months. If I simply remove the battery and keep it trickle charged at home I'd expect the bike not to be affected, but with ECU's etc these days am I missing something obvious?

Plenty of ACF 50 will be sprayed prior to the cover going on too - any other tips?

Atmosphere will be dry and unheated, but protected from the elements..

Leave the battery attached and use an optimate or similar. Don't use a trickle charger.

I'd recommend removing the battery, charging it and leaving it for about 6m before giving it another charge. (Leave it indoors)

Good advice and also keep you wheels and tyres off the deck if you can.

I would not recommend leaving a charger of any kind no mater how intelligent connected unattended for a full year. I would just disconnect the neutral and leave it alone. Try and get wheels off the ground. Put some fuel stabiliser in the tank and run for a few minutes. I use in the lawn mowers and never have problems with fuel going off. They say it lasts got 2 years. I would push the brake pads away from the discs and lash on ACF 50 taking care not to get on brake or tyers. To be honest if the battery is knackered just get a new one. After all if you were riding the bike the battery might need replacing anyway. If the oil hasn't been changed recently I would change it but I would not change it when putting it back on the road. Plenty will disagree with me on that one. JJH

I meant Optimate rather than trickle charger and I think I'll just put it under a cover with some ACF/WD/Silicone spray etc and get the wheels off the ground, remove the battery completely and leave it be. I can pop in occasionally and fire her up..

Just take the battery out keep it inside away from the cold Honestly There is absolutely no reason to start the bike if you are not going to use it hence better to remove the battery

Elevate both wheels off the deck but also blow the tyres up to 55 or so PSI remember to stick a "post it" on the speedo that you did <- there are some that negate to deflate before riding

Reason for not starting becomes obvious with the two unfortunates that did this with their bikes

And one other thing Fill the fuel tank completely full if you leave it near empty the fuel will go off, whilst if kept as near full as possible once the atmosphere above is saturated vapour it usually can't degrade too much

Make sure you use a breathable cover. A cotton sheet or woollen blanket is best. Otherwise you'll get loads of condensation on the bike, causing rust and corrosion.
Is there plenty of ventilation where you're going to store it?
