Quite a storm here tonight,I would think there will some damage done once it blows itself out. Snow plastered everywhere.

Blimey......best I stay in Sussex another week....

It was fairly blowing a hooley last night, not so bad now. It's a good job there wasn't a lot of snow or it would have been a right mess.Although just up the road from you there are some fair drifts.

Saw the snow gates were shut yesterday...travelling back up tomorrow......enough pate chocolate cheese wine and brandy on board to survive a month in a drift!!!!!!

Glad I got all those trees felled in the Summer.

Who knows what could have happened to the ground with all that wet weather over the New Year period.

Yes I know what you mean, there are a lot of big beech trees across from my house and if they fell towards the house ,I would need a new cottage! Trees are fine if they are a safe distance from property, trouble is folk plant them as shelter, hoping when they are 8-10ft they will get privacy and shelter, but once they become 50ft high its becomes a different ballgame.

It was -25 in Lapland last week, then home to a balmy minus just a few last night, plenty snow to dig out today though, a bit more tomorrow as well

Winter, time to head for the hills

Were you working or holidaying in lapland?

It was holiday, cross country skiing in Akaslompolo in northern Finland, great wee village. I was out in a couple of good storms, wind chill makes it brisk, tracks are filled in and a lot of debris off the trees - but nice and quiet, good to be out

A lot in common with Russians, very similar people. I've been sitting in a bar in Finland, on automatic pilot, order a beer in Russian, it just looks and feels like it

But not nearly as expensive as the rest of Scandinavia - 5.50 a pint last week in Akaslompolo which isn't bad for that area and for a ski village north of the Arctic Circle

I paid £5 for a bottle of Ossian blond beer in a hotel in Blairgowrie on Saturday. On Sunday, I was in Aldi in Leven where they were selling it for £1.25
