A bit strange thing happened on my evening ride on Sunday. Stopped at traffic lights and suddenly idling come really rough with vibrations etc. I thought that it's a broken sparkplug or ignition coil because when revving engine over 2000rpm everything was ok. Took it on Monday morning to workshop and after couple of hours they gave a call to me and told that. We changed all 4 sparkplugs and the problem wasn't there but, when investigating further they discovered that sychronisation on throttlebodies was f.... Up as well as TPS sensor. I asked that how is it possible with the sync been f.... up since it has been only 2 months and app 6000km since last service which was 30000km service. This service included also syncronisation of throttlebodies.
Anybody else had these kind of problem in R1200GS??

Possibly either the cables aren't seated properly now or they weren't when they did the sync. Another thing I would be checking is valve clearance just in case something is happening there.

Some update

Took bike back from workshop for testdrive. Problem is according to workshop that there is an air leak somewhere!!?? So now doing some driving with it and following when the problem comes on again.
Anyway I'm a bit sceptic of the workshops explanation of the cause, that airleak would mess the sync, tps, and idling at once like it did on this case. Especially when the bike has app 36700km on the clock

Always ...

... worth a check, as are the air bleed caps underneath the throttle bodies :augie

:) All of those were ok. They cheked them at the workshop and I cheked them when I came home from the workshop... :(

Is the workshop a BMW dealer as it sounds as though they don't know what they are doing? At that number of Kms it should be nicely run in and at the peak of its performance. See if you can borrow a couple of stick coils from a problem free bike and swap yours out to see if that sorts the problem.

Yes unfortunately it is a BMW dealer... :( Trying to find new coils and test with them.

Start engine and take a can of wd40. Spray the wd round the inlet stubs and listen for a change of engine revs. If they change you have an air leak. Might be worth spraying the throttle bodies as well just in case the spindles or injector seals are leaking.

Did this but instead used startpilote and no change in revs, so my opinion is that air leak was just pure B.S. from workshops side. It's not the first time but problem is that BMW workshop's aren't so many here so have to deal with those we have unfortunately... :(

I've had similar rough running problems in the past due to shitty fuel from my local supermarket. Took my bike to the BMW dealer before I realised what it was myself :blast. To be fair to them they did diagnose the problem as bad fuel after having checked everything else. Since then I have always tried to buy branded 98 RON Fuel not supermarket stuff, though I'm sure it ultimately all comes from the same refinery somewhere. Jukka, treat your bike to a tankful of the good stuff and see if it helps, good luck.
