Hi all,
ive got a 01 1150 GS, not had it long but notice when i pull away in first gear a horrible noise seems to come from the front of the engine area as i take up the drive, it sounds like a scream followed by a spring type noise.

Has anyone come across it before, been told could be the ABS setting up and is normal, not sure.

it did do it once as i came in to a stop, and the back wheel skidded.

Any ideas gratefully received.
cheers
gareth

Welcome to the site Chunks. I believe you have now found this to be the ABS set-up whirring. Didn't have long with you the other day so thought it might be alternator belt. Steve.

A cross between something going round on the disc, and a kind of squeaky clunk ??

That`s the ABS setting itself.

The guys are right that they all make a noise on initial take off and sometimes mine does it randomly following fairly hard braking. However if it does it everytime you pull away from lights or junctions, you may have a different problem. Assume it's only only first take off so don't worry.

Thats the noise, I have been puzzling over it for a while, put it down to cold motor, pinking, clutch, squeaky paralever, none of which seemed quite right, now I know, thanks boys.

Welsh
