When I start the bike from cold, as it fires it makes a strange high pitch chirp from the left hand side (I think)

Has anybody any idea what this is and how to get it to go away! My first thought is that its related to the starter motor not 'disengaging' but any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Andrew

Mine does it too occasionally. BM say nothing to worry about...but then they would wouldn't they? :p

How can something so "well built"... and let's face it, they are quite well stuck together, and do exactly what it says on the tin... how can they have so many nocks and rattles. If the Jap bikes can be mass produced in such large volumes and be as smooth as you like, how can a company that prides itself on built quality reconcile these unwanted noises?

I would think that a large part of the reason we hear all these noises is the fact that the engine is "out there" rather than being tucked away inside, plus the lack of a water jacket. The water cooling around an engine damps out a lot of the mechanical noises.

Shake rattle and roll

Mine does it too, also only when cold, i took it to Rainbow and they said it was fine. It hasn't blown up yet!

Good Man.........

Cheers P.B.

Good to know nothing serious then:p

Strange noise

the culprit could be the petrol pump. When empty, as it should be if the engine have not been running for a while, it will run empty for a few seconds and then it makes that annoying noise. Some more, some less.
It call "character" mon ami...
