Strapping down on a ferry

luckily i carry own straps 'cause i was last on board.

back to strapping dem bitches down, its important to do it properly - esp when they have been naughty, taking one down the wrong roads (scenic er beach route) which meant i almost missed the boat and work the next morning. bad girl. she just wants to play, see

On the Norfolkline Belfast / Birkenhead route last weekend rather than the "normal" crew tie down procedure they have changed to an owner tie down policy with help from crew if requested.

When I asked why the supervisor told me was now company policy as they had had complaints from bikers on how they did it, it was either a case of secure your own bike (pads and straps provided) or get off the ferry.

It depends

So in short it depends...

In general the easy way to go is to start with sidestand and first gear. One up is to add a strap over the seat. Full blown, as on a trailer on strap on each side of the front fork. Then I add a strap to hold it back throug the rear wheel

I have always strapped my own bike down, never had any trouble from crew and I have always used the side stand method making sure the ratchet or knot is on the same side as the stand, I don't know the physics of this but it seems work and I like the security of knowing how well the job has been done!
