Hi folks,

I would like to buy a SG2 jacket as the remaining stock seems to be reasonable priced, but I would appreciate some advice on sizing as I am likely to buy mail order.

I have just bought the SG2 trousers in size 54 and they are just right. I am a 43" chest and not sure whether to go for a 54 or 56 jacket? I would appreciate the experience of others who have the SG2 jacket please. I will try an SG3 to see how it fits but not really too sure if the fit will have changed.

I do ride all year round and I wear a Gerbings liner in the winter.

Thanks folks. :thumb

The SG3 seems a bit tighter per size than the SG2, probably due to the deeper and larger armour within what seems to be the same size shell. My 50 size SG2 was a good fit but the 50 size SG3 is undoubtedly a bit snugger.

If you wear a Gerbings you might want to go one size up, but also be aware that the SGs trouser to jacket full length zip goes around the trouser waist, so you may well have to roll the bottom of the Gerbings up - it is longer than the available space when the jacket is zipped to the trousers. If you do not zip them together you will lose whatever security is afforded, and you will absolutely, positively get a draft up your back. :rob

Thanks for the info. :thumb

I am not sure how I posted this in the wrong section by the way, and if a mod would like to move it to the correct one for clothing that would be handy.

I initially got a size bigger than I thought should fit (I'm only 40in chest, so can't compare with you directly), but had to take it back for a smaller one. It just fitted all wrong. I feel it's not like a 'normal' jacket where you can get a bigger size and wear stuff underneath - it's more cut like a leather jacket. Fitted. I just use my leccy waistcoat underneath, and wear another jacket on really cold days. It's not really cold weather kit.

Why not just goto a BMW shop and try it out?

Then buy mail order?

Essex isn't that remote?? It's not like you live you on the Isle of Skye where there are no inside loos :D

Canons would be your nearest dealer. Or go to Battersea or Park Lane :nenau

Monty Just my opinion ,but worth passing on . I got a streetguard 2 about a year ago because my Hein Gericke ( master v ) was about 8 years old and I figured was in need of replacement. Nothing wrong with streetguard except not very warm , but I continually prefer my HG and unless very hot always reach for that one first. Its just easier to wear and seems to be more comfortable and convenient, better pockets easier to put gloves on etc. Just like an old pair of slippers.
If I new then what I know now I wouldn,t have got the streeguard.

Im sure others will declare Im speaking a load of rubbish, but each to their own, and thats why I preferred my old 1150 to the 1200.

Not rubbish ! I agree - the SG2's a bit 'hard'. It's stiff and a bit tight. The pockets aren't big, and the neck bit pushes on my adams apple when done up. I find it good for summer but not winter. I guess you just have to try it on in the shop, and think about whether you can have a different, winter jacket.
The troosers are fine, though.

Only just spotted this. Maybe I can't get to a dealer and try it because it is obsolete and there are none in stock? I may be a doofus but I am not that stupid. I know where the dealers are, thanks. :thumb
