After a few weeks wait, I have received my warranty replacement jacket.
Two previous jackets have suffered a failed zipper after about 10 months. I have mentioned this in a previous thread so won't bang on about it.

I was told the delay in getting a jacket was as they were making a new batch in Germanyshire.

Well, this third example of the jacket IS different to the previous two.

The main zipper is a little finer, with more teeth per inch. This pulls much more smoothly.
Also there is a huge big flap behind the zipper now, which keeps the easily snagged liner (or your inner clothing) away from the zipper.

Hopefully the above link will show this.

Be interested in how you get on with this new suit as I am in the market for one but got put off a SG3 by all the zip problems.
Post soon as i want to buy soon!

That looks a lot better.

I have a SG3 and feck me it does my head just trying to get the fecking thing zipped up. If you manage the get the zip to pull up a little you think yes but then it is short lived as always snags the liner.

A bit of fairly liquid on the zip helps the movement but it still snags the liner and you then have bubbles coming out of the front in the rain :blast

Waiting on my replacement jacket for the last 4 weeks. Must've been waiting on the new ones. Same problem..the zip.
The jacket and trousers are both warranty replacements as the last suit let in rain. :rob

And the material?

Do you see any material changes? I have a Streetguard 3 and some black parts are getting brown.
It should be changed under warranty and I have been told that every clothes item number have change because that the production will change even if the item itself wond be renamed.
It seems to be true with zips...

Best

Re Zips.
I had one start to go on a twat suit. Take your jacket to someone who'll put a heavy duty one in and be done with it. Your replacement jackets will fail again, just when you could do without it:thumb

Cost £23 from a local Tailor and had the jacket back the following day.
Rest of jacket will wear out before that zip

the new zips are fancy waterproof ones hence why difficult to operate.

my old style tourguard jacket (longer version of streetguard) was much better as had two zips, the second one used for extra storm protection, not that it was ever used much as the main zip and cover gave good protection. the beauty of the second zip though was if the main zip failed you always had the second as a back up to keep jacket closed.

progress in this instance is a bit backwards

Which dealer did you get your revised jacket from? I have enquired with 4 down south, inc Park Lane who contacted Germany, and nobody is aware of revised zip etc.
I am thinking of purchasing one but not going with the old zip design and hassle.

I popped into Vines SLM today and they have just started to receive the revised zipped jackets in.

Got a reply from Park Lane ... BMW deny that there is a revised version out. Funny, both the Vines salesman and myself were commenting on the change between the 2 jackets that we were looking at :nenau
Park Lane has just lost a sale from me.

Can't argue with that, still using my Tourguard jacket, still waterproof. Was thinking it might be replaced with SG3 one day, but not yet.

So far..so good!

The new flap behind the zipper made zipping up with the liner in place much easier- no snags. And the less chunky zip runs much better.

I also noted that the arms seem to be a less bulky fit, and seem less draft-prone than the previous one.

Williams in Manchester were unaware that there had been a revision, but agreed that this must have been the case when we compared my old and new jacket.

Is there an easy way to determine which jacket has the revised zip, for when I'm browsing through the jackets?
