Hi All,

Newbie here.

Sorry to dive in with a help question on my first post but I'm looking for help with navigating when the post code limit of 5 digits in the SP2610 doesn't find my target destination.
Any useful comments would be greatly appreciated, especially if they come before my Austria Tour in August ;)

Post Code Searching

Input 4 or 5 digits - target destination not found.
1) What to do next, if street name but city name not clear (small town or big city)?
2) What to do if no street name or incorrect street name?

Very confusing and not very intuitive.

Hi Ralph

I find the easiest way

In find…… just leave England in the top (there by default anyway)

Put the house number in

Then the road name

Then hit find it should list them in order by distance…… from where you are with the area and part postcode

(this works for me i never use postcode search)

Don’t know if that will help

Regards

Martin

Navigating without Post Codes

Martin,

Thanks - I'll try that next time out.

Ralph

By the way... If you have just purchased your streetpilot 2610 new and it came with city navigator V8 you should be entitled to a free upgrade to V9? just ordered mine today

Since when could you search on postcode anyhow?!

I dont see no option on mine to do that!

The post code bit helps narrow the area down ie to an area in York instead of England. The full post code search narrows it down to a street, which non NT mapping can't ie the 2610 / SP3 / Quest 1. 2820 / Quest 2 can go to full post code, if you want to.

I find it's more likely to find a "difficult" address if you enter the "city" the address is located, rather than England.

I was told they would email the information to those of us who should be getting the free upgrade, where did you order from, and how ? did you just email garmin?. :nenau  :nenau :thumb

City Navigator v. 9

When I tried to upgrade to v. 9, Garmin refused me - said it wasn't available for the 2610.

How did you do it guys?? :nenau

City Navigator v. 9

WEE BOAB/bluepassat,

Sorry to appear thick, but could you spell it out please?

1) Which thread and where is it located?
2) Which Garmin link? I previously tried on the Garmin site and that was where I was told v. 9 is not available. :nenau

Can you give me the exact url that results in me obtaining v. 9, please?

Thanks for your patience.

Ralph

2610 - City Navigator v. 9: SUCCESS

At long last!

The link to Garmin's site worked whereas the last time I tried it, it didn't. Grrr.

Ah, well, just have to wait until the disc arrives in the post, sometime later this month ....

Thanks again, guys. :beerjug:

Hi Ralph

I used the following link

https://my.garmin.com/mygarmin/customers/myGarminHome.faces

When you register your 2610 with Garmin……….anyone who registers (I think) 1st September 2006 or after you are entitled to a free upgrade
